The Golden Down

I'm in a slump. Period. I've been enjoying the shots of various spirits and I want to get more creative with it but it's time to take some time for myself, absorb myself in art and music, color and taste. Time to get back to my credo!

A resurgance is coming and this is the tinge of the beginning.

Glenfiddich 12

Some Glenfiddich 12 year old single malt scotch in one of my new Glencairn crystal glasses, I plan to shoot this glass alone yet but I'm trying to decide how I want to do it. I really like the stark white background with bottles like this as it shows the color of the scotch and standard details of the bottle without too much influence.

Also the song below the photo is a great musical description of what tasting scotch is like.

Riedel Vinum Series Riesling Grand Cru

Purchased some Riedel crystal as my first set of true wine glasses and once again to quote a famous film "If you have the means I highly suggest".

I was skeptical that crystal could make a difference in the flavor and approach of the wine yet I found myself amazed when I tried my first sip of Raven's Glen out of it. The closest I can compare is the difference between root beer out of a can or a glass bottle, there is just something more crisp and smooth about it. I'm slowly building out my kitchen collection and replacing some of the lower quality items with ones such as this and what a fantastic step it's been.

Here is a link to the Riedel page, they make some fantastic products and it's interesting to learn about their company's history and purpose.

The Balvenie 15

Had my first group scotch tasting yesterday and it was quite the experiance in flavors, after all of those sharp and powerful tastes the small glass of wine I had tonight seemed so incredibly mild and wonderful in comparison. One of the scotches we tried was the Balvenie single malt, single cask 15 year old. It was one of my favorites so far so I set up a bit of a new experiement from some wonderful photographers at pixiq.

This was the result! with a bit of tweaking and a home made softbox I should be able to perfect it.

Purportedly

This image just seems to be everything it's not, purportedly is the word that sprung to my mind as soon as I looked at the finished work.

Oh yeah side note for any photographers, this was taken from a single RAW but was not processed in any HDR fashion.

Arnold Palmer

Tried my hand at making an Arnold Palmer yesterday and it did not turn out as well as planned but I shall try again and again until I perfect this recipe! It was made with loose leaf green tea, lavender, and fresh squeezed lemons.

Hot Mexican Bean Dip

I am slowly rebuilding my recipes collection after a terrible crash with an app I used to use which resulted in the loss of the majority of my favorite recipes. To go along with this I am making images of some of my favorite dishes to use with my new app MacGourmet. The second one that I've made being an old family recipe that I know by heart I've made it so many times.

This dip is great any time and can be enjoyed in many ways, it goes great with a large glass of iced tea which I will be mixing up tomorrow.
