Blur

One time at a hotel in Rhode Island I saw a cat with a pompadour in the faucet, if you looked at just the right angle. This is the photo I took to capture it forever.

There are some days where I just don’t feel like myself, it’s not a bad thing or a good thing, it’s like a displacement, like you’re having an out of body experience and you’re trying to find your way back to who you know you used to be. It’s likely very constructive since maybe each time it happens you instead find a new version of yourself or at least one that has been slightly modified in some way and for me I know that sometimes I need to unfocus a bit, allow the world to blur and to not pursue something for a period of time so that I can instead reflect on life and where I’m going in it, not where it’s taking me.

Either way it’s been an interesting day and I’ve been trying to remind myself that it’s okay to just stop sometimes, to not hit the “To-Do” list for a minute and instead maybe just watch some anime for a few hours and take a nap.

I’ve spent most of today working on some personal projects and thinking through a lot of things and it’s made me remember that I need to take some time to sit back and reflect occasionally so that I don’t get too wrapped up in current life events to remember the past and plan for the future. This world is one amazing ride and I have enjoyed my life more and more each year for the last 17 years.

I am changing this site over from being only focused on photography to something a little more broad so bear with me as it will be in progress for a little while yet. As a part of that change the image above is a mural/graffiti (i’m not sure what it was to the tenants) that I took a quick snapshot of while walking through Halifax, Nova Scotia that I really enjoyed, I hope you enjoy it too.

The Hill

One of the biggest things I noticed in our recent trip was how little you can see of the sky. Unless you're near the top of a mountain you can only see small amounts and it's rare that it's anything but blue or cloudy. This is on the hill behind the house I grew up in looking back at the mountain behind.

Sandpoint, ID

A view from the Mickinnick trail in Sandpoint. It's a solid climb up 2150 feet in elevation gain and had our legs burning pretty badly by the time we got back to the car but like always the view and experience we had were both fantastic.

The Valley

We took a vacation to the area where I spent the most time as a child. This image is the valley near the town Bonners Ferry in northern Idaho from a lookout off of the road down a small mountain. I hadn't been in that area in over 10 years so the change in perspective from child to adult is pretty dramatic.

Bleed Orange

Meant to be viewed full screen. At a tired little pond in the middle of a woods that no one ever visits stands a tiny little island with a couple lonely trees and while the others tire and rest for the winter there is still one that rages its color against the bleak fog of winter. Now Playing: Sonoio - Can You Hear Me?
