One of the biggest things I noticed in our recent trip was how little you can see of the sky. Unless you're near the top of a mountain you can only see small amounts and it's rare that it's anything but blue or cloudy. This is on the hill behind the house I grew up in looking back at the mountain behind.

We took a vacation to the area where I spent the most time as a child. This image is the valley near the town Bonners Ferry in northern Idaho from a lookout off of the road down a small mountain. I hadn't been in that area in over 10 years so the change in perspective from child to adult is pretty dramatic.

It's a morning that you'll never remember, a day that draws on as you trudge through these woods looking for the little house that resides within. Now Playing: Sonoio - Enough
Meant to be viewed full screen. At a tired little pond in the middle of a woods that no one ever visits stands a tiny little island with a couple lonely trees and while the others tire and rest for the winter there is still one that rages its color against the bleak fog of winter. Now Playing: Sonoio - Can You Hear Me?

A wonderful day of hiking and talking where we stumbled on a very large and very rotten log that was just teeming with life, creating it's own well maintained ecosystem. Now Playing: Sigur Rós - Untitled (Vaka)
It's light in here with a mother gone away, things seem much brighter when you see it all in grey. Simple rhymes have been moving through my head lately, little things that a kid could write but something about them is so enjoyable, maybe an endless fascination with Dr. Seuss from when I was a child that engrained his flow into my head. Now Playing: White Collar - Parting Shots
Little interruptions can be great.

I've been checking these with a friend for months while we waited for them to bloom then one random day when I was in the area still expecting them to be sealed up tight there they were, wide open and waiting for someone to notice. Now Playing: Right Away, Great Captain - Fur Stop Caring
I'm back on the horse and riding after a brief hiatus. Caught this little yearling relaxing in an orchard today as he followed his mother and little brother who were extremely peaceful as they lounged about.
The look of mushrooms is so exotic and random, like snowflakes or anything else that people normally consider unique and beautiful. Now Playing: Wilfred - Now
Image courtesy of NASA and the Curiosity rover. If you've been media blind then you may have missed the news that NASA recently landed a new rover on Mars that is equipped with more instruments and higher resolution cameras then ever before, this is resulting in some amazing images of Mars with clarity and detail never before seen by humans much less the public in general. I am a huge fan of the openness NASA has had with their missions as time goes on and seeing images like this makes my heart rate increase with thoughts and possibilities of a camera on Mars.
That said the main reason I wanted to share in today of all days is because they have released a 360 degree pano of Mars that just takes your breath away, please go check it out and share in the curiosity.

The little tendrils coming out of this flower remind me of the feathers sprouting from Natalie Portman in the movie Black Swan, one of my favorite movies of the last 5 years, if you haven't seen it then go quickly to a Television and experience it.Now Playing: Scissor Sisters - Baby Come Home
Is dew the grass' offering of it's purest water? An Aqua Vitae of sorts?

Like a will-o'-the-wisp this flower sits out in nature beckoning you towards it with a few little fingers. What will happen if you go it's way.

If I were a fairy (some may contend that I am) then I would sleep in a spider web and we would be great friends, image the tiny structures they could create with guidance! Now Playing: Patrick Watson - Fireweed
