Youghiogheny River Panoramic

My first attempt at a panoramic HDR, the light was not optimal but with travel times I had no option other that to shoot at mid day and in reality I'm fairly pleased with how it's turned out. This river area was so beautiful that it's hard to capture it in a small image.

Stark Shadows

I've been shooting a lot of colorful HDR's lately but it's always good to both shoot and remember what some solid contrast between light and dark can bring. Like a good persons life there is an overwhelming glow of light with the occasional spikes of darkness coming through.

Speaking Along with My Monotone

If a brook running down a rocky mounting is babbling then does that mean that this slow water runway is monotone? I like to think of it more as a powerfully quiet whisper slipping into the stillness of the masses, like a child talking in a subway station. What do you think of nature represented through human analogies?

Bumbling Down

Whenever I see water like this I tend to picture a large mobster from a Bugs Bunny cartoon just stumbling along as he calls after his boss. I don't know why but the water seems clumsy and controlled so loosely by the terrain around it.
P.S. Have a listen to the song below the image, I feel that it fits very well.

Inspiration 4-10-12

I don't have a daily photo to share with you today so instead here is something that may inspire you to go create something beautiful.

The Yoshida brothers are two amazing Japanese musicians with some amazing stuff out there that everyone should at least give one play through. This is what I would say is their most accessable track, a remake of a piece from The Nightmare Before Christmas that was featured on the Nightmare Revisted soundtrack. Let me know what you think of it in the comments.

The Impact Filter

The force that this waterfall had seemed to just pulverize any impurities out of the water. I know that is not how it works but the water as soon as it went over the falls was just crystal clear and flowing into the open.

Drive

I don't have a daily photo to share with you all today but I do have this snapshot of my Odometer uploaded from my iPhone. Been driving and hiking for 15 hours strait so I have much editing to do tomorrow and I look forward to it immensely. Enjoy your evening and have a fantastic Easter if you partake.

The Movements Were Beautiful

There's going to be a few more from my running trip to the swamp as it was an exciting and beautiful night. I feel I am gaining a new perspective of what a swamp or marsh can look like the more I explore them and I'm surprised others don't show their natural beauty more often. Usually you only see them represented as creepy dark places, this is everything but that.

Warm the Grass

Took jumping over a full creek and sinking a good seven inches into soft silt mud and a lot of... (well I want to say sprinting but I guess at most I jog)... anyway it was fun creating this image. One of those times where you're so excited to create the image that it's all you can think about.

Surface

Learned a lot of new things today, one of which is the location of a great swamp about a 20 minute drive from my house. I've known of areas like this and visit several frequently but it seems like every time I just go exploring I find more places like this.

I probably looked like a crazy person pulling in and turning around at so many random little places while I looked over the swamp but hey, all in pursuit of a good image right? When the shot you had planned falls through then you turn on your feet and find another.

Emotion

Quantic Dream, a company that has done some amazingly unique things in gaming has released a techinical demo of their new software engine and if you are like me, used to seeing tech demos of a lot of bouncing balls or floating rubber ducks and falling blocks or running soldiers then this video is the most refreshing and emotional take on a technical demo to date.

The demo itself is much more of a short film and pulls at many strings in me that I think are just wonderful.

They offer a look behind the scenes of the video here and have done similar videos in the past such as this one, an engine demo for what later became Heavy Rain.
